MBC have interest for Coffee Prince Season 2

Lead by Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye, Korea’s MBC Channel’s popular drama Coffee Prince broadcasted Episode 17 Finale on the 26th August. Unfortunately, ratings were unable to break 30%, only reaching 27.7%. MBC has already expressed interest in filming a sequel
The night before, Coffee Prince’s actors and staff went to some Charcoal beef restaurant in Seoul for celebration party and to watch the finale together. On the night, bills were paid by female lead, Yoon Eun Hye. She and Gong Yoo both really liked CP, EH said “This drama was natural, simple and honest. On the filming sites, the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant/cheerful. Even though I had to cross-dress in the drama, giving up the chance to pretty myself, it was because of my natural dress up that lead to even more love from the public.”
Gong Yoo says: “I never even thought that the drama’s ratings would be able to border 30%, everyone really likes this drama, EH and I both felt that even if ratings performance wasn’t that good, it definitely is an outstanding drama. During my time filming the drama, it never felt like i was going to work, more like going to have fun. It’s been a while since i’ve had fun to this happy extent! So I need to thank EH and the director.” Gong Yoo also announced: “CP might be my last work of art/creation before I serve in the army, even though i’ve already received notice that i’m to enlist in October, but it might get postponed. However, at the lastest, i will still enlist within the year.”
Aside from this, alot of viewers wish for a sequel, even helping the channel in brainstorming ideas – pointing towards YEH’s Eunchan to become the “2nd store”’s boss. MBC also expressed interest in filming a sequel, but because of GY’S enlistment he may not be able to participate.

If you’re looking for a story for the second season, how ’bout bringing Han Kyul’s half brother to Seoul and making him Eun Sae’s love interest? Eun Sae’s supposed to be going to college so have her go to the women’s university near where the first shop is. Have the “half-brother” fall in love with Eun Sae’s character that he’ll be the one to “gender-switch” to attend the university so he could get close to Eun Sae.
His reason for travelling to Seoul could be because he’s being “rebellious” so he runs away from home to go see his half-brother. Being a newly matured guy, Han Kyul takes on the challenge of disciplining his half-brother. Han Kyul gets him involved in the second shop but he’s always going ‘missing’ because of his deception.
Eun Chan’s character would be the second shop’s Mr. Hong — fairy-god mother type character — to the half brother.

two years is quite a while but we are willing to wait for gong yoo. chemistry between EH and GY is really that great and the possible absence of GY in the sequel will mean a disaster… it would be better to wait after 2 years… i love coffee prince as well as the lead stars… keep up the good work EH and GY…
I love you GONG YOO…
February 29th, 2008 at 7:13 am
PLUS i agree with everyone on the fact that Coffe Prince will never be the same without Gong Yoo. waiting for 2 years is NOTHING to me as long as Han-Kyul will still be portrayed by Gong Yoo. Cause we guys know that it’s worth the wait, RIGHT?
let’s wait for Gong Yoo!
FIGHTING! ^_^

I just found this show on AZN and I’m in love! PLEASE GIVE US A SECOND SEASON! How bad does the Army need Mr Choi anyway.
February 23rd, 2008 at 11:49 am
I would love a sequel. However, I really hope that it picks up where it left off. I’ve noticed that most Korean, HK, Taiwanese dramas don’t match the sequel to the first version. And that’s a turn off. Sometimes they would replace characters. With that said, I would not be interested in the sequel if Gong Yoo wasn’t in it. The chemistry between the 2 leads were undeniable. My whole reason of loving this drama was because of their chemistry. I wouldn’t like it if Gong Yoo was replaced. I think it would be quite smart if they waited until Gong Yoo got back from the military to start the drama. I’m sure in two years people will remember CP still. CP is a unique drama that hasn’t been done before, therefore I’m sure people will still remember it as time passes. If you all love CP, please post on there that you would want Gong Yoo as the male lead. We all know the leads make all the difference in whether the drama does well or flops. PLEASE WAIT FOR GONG YOO !!!
February 23rd, 2008 at 4:34 am
