MBC have interest for Coffee Prince Season 2

Lead by Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye, Korea’s MBC Channel’s popular drama Coffee Prince broadcasted Episode 17 Finale on the 26th August. Unfortunately, ratings were unable to break 30%, only reaching 27.7%. MBC has already expressed interest in filming a sequel
The night before, Coffee Prince’s actors and staff went to some Charcoal beef restaurant in Seoul for celebration party and to watch the finale together. On the night, bills were paid by female lead, Yoon Eun Hye. She and Gong Yoo both really liked CP, EH said “This drama was natural, simple and honest. On the filming sites, the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant/cheerful. Even though I had to cross-dress in the drama, giving up the chance to pretty myself, it was because of my natural dress up that lead to even more love from the public.”
Gong Yoo says: “I never even thought that the drama’s ratings would be able to border 30%, everyone really likes this drama, EH and I both felt that even if ratings performance wasn’t that good, it definitely is an outstanding drama. During my time filming the drama, it never felt like i was going to work, more like going to have fun. It’s been a while since i’ve had fun to this happy extent! So I need to thank EH and the director.” Gong Yoo also announced: “CP might be my last work of art/creation before I serve in the army, even though i’ve already received notice that i’m to enlist in October, but it might get postponed. However, at the lastest, i will still enlist within the year.”
Aside from this, alot of viewers wish for a sequel, even helping the channel in brainstorming ideas – pointing towards YEH’s Eunchan to become the “2nd store”’s boss. MBC also expressed interest in filming a sequel, but because of GY’S enlistment he may not be able to participate.

Wow! THAT’S AWESOME! I’m so glad that they want to make a CP2~! I think this is the best drama that I’ve seen so far! I wish that world was real.. and that I could go to the coffee shop and hang out with them. I’m going crazy
If GY is only going to serve for 6 weeks, then why not shoot the show after that??? It will be totally worth the wait. ^^
September 8th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
I hope that there would be coffee prince2 with EUH and GY even after GY’s service in the military since i read that he will just serve for 6 weeks. Maybe after that they can have the shooting for the sequel. Its so exciting to see the couple after 2 years with their children.

What a silly and you name it idea: CP 2 without Gong Yoo.
September 7th, 2007 at 8:30 pm
awwww! I didn’t know GY was in the army… Wow such dedication. Either way CONGRATULATIONS!! Coffee prince was my first and will be my forever loved drama that I have ever seen!! I love the Director!, Writers!, backstage crew, and ACTORS! It was such a spendid show!!!! Even if the sequal will probably not be made or will, at least you started off with a kick ass first season!

CONGRATS to all the cast and director!!! i can’t wait to see a sequel in this drama! but if GY can’t be in the sequel i don’t think the director should film it… because i want GY and EH to be together!!!! so i hope the director should postponed the filming until GY return!!!! Gy and EH rule!!!
love coffee prince!!! :]
September 7th, 2007 at 6:20 am
i also forgot to mention that i love Coffee Prince heaps , and it won’t be awesome if the filming of the 2nd sequel is postponed until Gong Yoo comes back from the army !!!!!!
September 7th, 2007 at 6:19 am
i would hope for Gong Yoo to participate in the 2nd sequel cos it won’t be good if he isn’t .
September 7th, 2007 at 3:38 am
Ahhh i fell in love with Coffee Prince, it was an awesome series. I agree that it should have gotten higher ratings, i couldnt get myself off of the comp because i was so into it (i kept watching the series again and again) i hope there’s a sequel out soon since i agree that the ending in the final episode wasnt as satisfying for me and it felt bad to know that it was going to all end with the last episode. im glad that there’s at least a mention of them thinking of making another sequel. This series definitely deserves a sequel. i’ve never been this addicted to a drama before haha and Gy definitely has to be in the sequel, it just would be weird to not see him and EH together in the sequel since the chemistry was so natural and it’s odd to think of anyone else in Choi’s role than GY. DEFINITELY should wait for GY to come back from army enlisting, the idea of filiming it in 2009 is cool since that is where they ended at. I would be lookin forward to this sequel WITH GY in it in 2009 or so lolz.

I really fell in love with this story and all of the actors. I stayed up late wondering what would happen next and thoroughly enjoyed every part. I too although this seems rather redundant wish and hope that there will be a sequel, however without Gong Yoo there doesn’t seem to be much hope for this… Otherwise, it was enjoyable and even brought out a new sensation for my love of coffee. Thank you for producing such an amazing drama.
September 6th, 2007 at 3:58 am
I think there should be a sequel to continue from where it stops cos i personally feel that the ending wasn’t really that fantastic.
September 5th, 2007 at 9:39 pm
congrats to all CP casts.. good work.. well done …. not a typical korean drama.. very unique and interesting… i enjoyed watching cup 1-17.. hope for the sequel.. with gong yoo..
September 5th, 2007 at 9:36 pm
congrats to the whole casts of CP.. happy to hear that MBC are plannng to do a sequel.. but without gong yoo.. .. CP will not not be the same without him.. so please do something about it…
September 5th, 2007 at 9:25 am
Exactly as Eirwal says: I think a second season would definitely be awesome. A sequel without GY or any of the other original cast wouldn’t be able to reach the same popularity. The chemistry between GY and YEH’s was just to special…
September 5th, 2007 at 4:46 am
love the idea of 2nd season but am not very keen on different cast.
I love how GY & EH are so natural in CF. This is the 1st time i’m watching EH & i’ve to say it was very brave to take on such a natural character. it was really no fuzz & not ‘made up’. Love the character & she really bring out the essence of it.
really love the relationship & naturalness of the whole series. Good work & Great Job!!!
September 4th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
Hmmm.. I think a second season would definitely be awesome. But not having it’s original cast might be hard to get the same attention from the viewer’s. Specially with GY and YEH’s chemistry.. They really look good on screen together.
September 4th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
To date, CF is now one of my fav korean drama… they managed to balance the sad (and reasonably light only) and happy parts, which makes it fun to watch. wish they could wait for GY before they push through with the sequel… i think GY & EH’s chemistry on this drama is irreplaceable!!!…
September 4th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
I’m excited to hear of the sequel but also sad knowing that GY may not be able to participate. GY & EH, both were great in the movie. I wish that I can watch them again. This is my third Korean movie that I’ve watched and couldn’t believe that I was so hooked; I’ve replayed many times. I must say that the Director is the greatest. I love every single act in the movie. I’m so dissappointed about the rating; it certainly deserves alot better %.
September 4th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
this drama is an excellent drama and I’m hoping all the cast will be in it again.. for season 2.. thank you casts and staffs
September 4th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
the end of CP is really a sad thing for me…i miss them a lot especially Gong Yoo and Eun Hye….also the funny Hae Rim and everyone else…a sequel is very much needed and anticipated…although they should be very careful not to loose the cuteness of the original series…and what are they saying that Gong Yoo will probably not be in the sequel bec of his enlisting in the army…then I don’t think it’s a sequel… we want the original casts…we miss them badly and if there’s gonna be a sequel better have the original ones…and yeah Eun Chan should manage the Coffee Princess shop…they need to show that they are starting their family with a successful business…and please no more losing of baby…
yes CP has ended but we can still watch it again and again….
Congratulations to a very nice Korean series…go,go COFFEE PRINCE!!!!
September 4th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Yeah, definitely agree that the orginal casts must be in the sequel for my enjoyment as well. The series will not be the same without Gong Yoo. He is one of the reason I watch Coffee Prince and of course the chemistry between him & YEH. They really portrayed their characters well.

Enjoy~
September 4th, 2007 at 10:45 am
waaaahhh…i love this drama as well and it would be great too if there would be a sequel for this but if Gong Yoo wouldn’t be able to participate on it might as well not to proceed with the sequel. Because the main point of having sequels must have the leading casts on it, to be able have the same touch or appeal to its audience. Is it possible if they could actually do the filming before Gong Yoo serves the army since he hinted that going to the army might get postponed. I hope the original casts would be able to act again on the sequel if there’ll be one. If however, they wouldn’t be able to participate again how about a different story/drama in the future but the lead actors would be GY and YEH. By the way I’d like to participate in the brainstorming as well hehehehe where can i send my suggestions?

Can’t get my chan out of my head….
Lol I have problems…
100 percent with the sequel.
Of course everyone will also think likewise
September 3rd, 2007 at 6:56 pm
im happy that theyre going for a second season but it wont be as good without gong yoo
September 3rd, 2007 at 8:40 am
gong yoo…has to be in the sequel…it wont be the same without him….but do you know if they;re going to wait for him to finish his military service or are they going to shoot the film without him…..
September 2nd, 2007 at 5:19 pm
without the original cast, it will not be a success i guess. i hope they won’t rush the sequel. after gong yoo’s service from the military and they’ll be more mature by then… congratulations for the success! by the way, if anybody’s around Seoul, you can visit MBC and there’s a mini Coffee Prince shop there. it’s what i hear from the people of MBC during the COEX drama sales event last week.
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:48 am
coffee prince 2 without gong yoo!!!!!!! impossible!!!!!!! if it does happen it will not succeed….coffee prince isn’t coffee prince w/ out gong yoo and eun hye!!!!! but if there is a sequel to this one w/ them in it i would be so freakin happy!!!!!!
September 1st, 2007 at 8:40 pm
^i mean: serve for 2 years
September 1st, 2007 at 8:39 pm
i think they should have the sequel in 2 years (2009) because that is when eun chan comes back in coffee prince and now in korea millitary sytem, u have to serve there was 2 years.
September 1st, 2007 at 5:46 am
like what i ask in the dramabeans post, can someone tell me if GY and YEH are realy going out for real, coz i read one comment from soompi thread that they are,how could this be when YEH has KJK,i just notice in the specials and the bts that YEH is keep on flirting GY,does she really fell w/ GY on their love scenes, omg wake up girl your no good to GY
September 1st, 2007 at 4:54 am
I love the series, I think it’s one of the best series I’ve ever seen. I’m looking forward for a sequel but have to be with Gong Yoo even if I will have to wait for him to finish his army service. Must be with Gong Yoo!
September 1st, 2007 at 12:58 am
No GY then no need for part 2. it will be very different. Since it take a while to write scripts and all other preparations, would it not be possible that by the time he is out and go straight into filming of part 2.
August 31st, 2007 at 10:32 pm
no gong yoo. not good
August 31st, 2007 at 8:26 pm
hell no! am not watching coffee prince 2 without my baby gong yoo! hell……….no! he’s the shit! then if it’s like that they should just leave it alone. without him it’s bullshit drama like goong s!
August 31st, 2007 at 10:47 am
congrat. to the cast and crew of CP. i kinda thought MBC would make a seque for it having place 1st shop as the front title. had fun watching it, but a sequel without main castings? like the others says, it’s gonna be different. i’d probably suggest the whole cast be changed and the story be about the offsprings of those two pairs. someone suggested a Coffee Princess, i like that idea. or, lets have coffee prince vs. coffee princess in the sequel, that would be fun. yay, so happy. wish gong yoo good luck; will he see yeh’s “one man” from x-man, i wonder.
August 31st, 2007 at 9:10 am
part 2 of coffee prince without gong yo……..sob sob no point what so ever
August 31st, 2007 at 6:33 am

August 31st, 2007 at 6:12 am
yeay!!! really hope we can have the sequel~~
but as teh others said – must with gong yoo!!!

luv you CHOI HAN GYUL – GO EUN CHAN
August 31st, 2007 at 4:05 am
I don’t really think that there’s a need for a sequel..sequel’s are always boring..it’ll be more boring now that Gong Yoo won’t be able to participate and he’ll be replaced, if ever there’s a sequel..Let’s take meteor garden as an example..the second season bored me to death..I mean, what is there to talk about in a season two of any drama? these things aren’t needed anymore..it’ll just diss us..the ending of coffee prince was just perfect..though there was the “after 2 years” cliche..i still liked the ending..it didn’t give any hint of a 2nd season..if they will make sequel, it will just ruin their reputation that they’ve so much worked hard for
August 30th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE CAST AND CREW OF COFFEE PRINCE, I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING IT BUT FOR THE SECOND SEQUEL IT WOULDN’T BE THE SAME IF GONG YOO WASN’T THERE.
August 30th, 2007 at 9:16 pm
i love this show but it wouldn’t be the same if Gong Yoo wasn’t the hot leadin ,male!!=D
August 30th, 2007 at 7:04 pm
It should not been called CP at all, if there is no Goong Yoo there.
This job inspire me a lot about happiness and lives, thank you you guys and congratulations for 27%. (^^) v
August 30th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
hopefully there will be a second sequel, and it will be better if Goong Yoo still there. They really look good together im really hook with this drama. Congratulations to the whole cast especially the director, job well done.
August 30th, 2007 at 11:24 am
Coffee Prince 2 or Coffee Princess = YES
BUT, WITH GONG YOO !!!
August 30th, 2007 at 10:20 am
Hmm, i’m not sure why but it’s kinda hard nowadays to continue sequel for popular shows. Let’s not put our hopes too high if not we will end up disappointed again. =)
August 30th, 2007 at 9:45 am
Wow!!! What exciting news that there may be a sequel! I LOVED this drama!!! And I do hope that Gong Yoo can return for his character. He was one of the reasons I became hooked!!!
August 30th, 2007 at 6:34 am
It’s good that CP will have sequel, but I still hope that Gong Yoo will play there. I don’t think it’s a good idea to change the main cast..
August 30th, 2007 at 3:12 am
I’m excited about MBC’s interest in filming CP sequel. It’s a great drama and I totally enjoyed it! The cast and the storyline are outstanding! However, it will be a great disappointment if the original cast couldn’t be in the sequel esp when Gong Yoo (GY)is one of the main cast in this drama. Most past drama sequel which doesn’t include the original cast usually gets poor rating. Not sure whether if GY could participate in the sequel but one thing for sure there are supporters out here hoping to see GY and EH back in the drama limelight!
Congratulations to all Director, Casts and all staff who participate in this drama! Good job!!!
